Kiutra · L-Type Rapid
L-Type Rapid: from sample to 50 mK in under four hours
Kiutra's fast-feedback characterisation cryostat for sub-kelvin and kelvin temperatures, with automated sample loading and helium-3-free magnetic cooling. Supplied and supported in ASEAN by Paeonia Bloch.

Built for throughput
The L-Type Rapid combines closed-cycle refrigeration with magnetic cooling for solid-state sub-kelvin operation, with up to three ADR cooling units. Samples are mounted on a puck and loaded through an automatic sample loader: the loading process takes less than ten minutes, and samples can be unloaded at any time, whatever the cryostat temperature.
Kiutra gives a turnaround of 2 to 4.5 hours depending on configuration: about 40 minutes of handling (unloading, warm-up, loading) plus the cooldown. That makes it a characterisation tool rather than a long-hold experiment platform: many samples a week, each measured cold.
Configurations

Configurations as published by Kiutra. "Continuous operation" is the range in which the system holds temperature indefinitely; below it, the system runs single-shot with the hold time shown.

Sample handling
Puck 55
Sample space of 55 mm diameter and 117 mm height. The puck carries DC and RF connections to the sample.
Puck Station 55
Prepare and check the sample on the bench before it goes cold.
Automatic sample loader
Loading takes less than ten minutes; samples can be unloaded at any cryostat temperature.
Options
- Magnets: 5 T or 8 T solenoid, or a 3–1–1 T vector magnet.
- Magnetic shielding: mu-metal and superconducting shields reduce the residual field by two orders of magnitude; Kiutra states the stray field at the sample stays below 50 µT even with all magnets fully powered.
- RF wiring: semi-rigid RF cables rated to 18 GHz, with customer-specific attenuation per line; wiring trees can include LNAs, isolators, low-pass filters and couplers.
- Sample holders: probe cards, cryo-prober, QBoard and QCage by Quantum Machines, and Linqer.
- Software: kiutra.io, browser-based, with touch control at the cryostat, Jupyter Lab and an API.
Maintenance, per Kiutra: the cryostat itself needs no regular maintenance; the compressor is serviced every 30,000 operating hours and the cold head after 20,000.
L-Type Rapid questions
How cold does the L-Type Rapid get?
The base temperature is 50 mK, with the three-unit 3P55 configuration. The temperature range is 50 mK to 300 K.
How long does a sample change take?
Warm-up and sample exchange take about 30 minutes, and loading plus cooldown to base takes under 4 hours. Total turnaround is 2 to 4.5 hours depending on the configuration.
Can it run continuously?
Yes, above 100 mK with three ADR units or above 200 mK with two. Below those temperatures it runs single-shot, with a hold time at base of more than 5 hours (two or three units).
Does it need helium-3?
No. Cooling below the cryocooler stage is magnetic (ADR); no helium-3 and no liquid cryogens are used.
How many wiring lines does it have?
The standard system has DC lines, and RF wiring is an option configured per line. The line count depends on the configuration and sample holder, so we confirm it with Kiutra for your quotation.
