Wiring detector arrays without heating them

Superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors, MKIDs and TES arrays all trade pixel count against the lines and heat load the cryostat can take.

Where flex wiring helps

Delft Circuits lists photonics and SNSPDs, and astrophysics instruments such as MKIDs and TES, among Cri/oFlex® applications. For detector arrays the argument is the same as for qubits: more channels per port and less heat per channel at the cold stages, with filtering integrated rather than added plate by plate.

For the cooling side, Kiutra's helium-3-free magnetic cooling reaches the sub-kelvin range these detectors operate in. Tell us the detector type and operating temperature, and we will check the fit with both manufacturers.
